GM Is Coming Out With Brand New Electric Motors

Two permanent magnet motors and an induction motor have been revealed by General Motors (GM) to underpin its Ultium-based range of electric vehicles (EVs).

Mark Reuss, president of General Motors, announced the three new motors being designed in-house this week at the Mackinac Policy Conference in Michigan. The front-drive motors are 180kW each, while the rear-drive and front-drive motors are 255kW each, and there’s a 62kW all-wheel drive assist motor as well.
